Remy's Recipe - Wheat n Sweet Pancake

There are 13 signals, from my home to work, and I live just 3 streets away! You take a turn or just go two blocks more and its right there. It makes me remember Chennai, as I grew up the roads became so busy and congested and signals appeared on every corner. I guess life is also like that .As I grew up there are red signals everywhere, putting so many restrictions on what I can and cannot do.

The worst is the invisible yellow lines drawn not only by parents but by some friends and society. These are the people who define life by 8 hours of sleep, 10 plus hours of work and whatever rest for eating in front of the TV. These are the people who constantly believe I might ruin my life and I need help.

I am expected to live a life from existing templates (mapped to age, financial status etc) and anything new seem to disturb them and the relationship I share. These days I just ignore or give a “watch me do this” stare when confronted by such criticisms.

If it is too much to take, I would just sit in the couch watching FRIENDS or make myself busy with some other things. This time I turned to my best retreat – cooking. Tada! born a new recipe - “Wheat n sweet pancake “.

To make this easy dish you need:
1 cup wheat
¼ cup rice flour
¼ cup maize flour * use ¼ all purpose flour if you don't have this and/or rice flour
Jaggery/ brown sugar - 2 teaspoons (healthier than crystal sugar)
½ cup coconut (optional if you are dieting)
A pinch of salt
Cardamom – 1 (optional)

Mix everything in the bowl. Add water and make it to pancake paste consistency. Heat the pan use very less amount of oil or use it on alternate pancakes. Spread it like dosa cook both sides until golden brown and there you go!

This doesn’t need any side dish but if you wish take honey or plain yogurt along with it. Wheat has got appropriate calorie value for a grain and a perfect filling food. It provides healthy metabolism to the body and prevents breast cancer, gallstone, childhood asthma and heart risks. It also promotes gastro-intestinal health. Coconut is good source of dietary fiber and with regular intake you can say bye bye to constipation problems.
Update :
Variation to it, Add Finger Millet ( raagi) instead of wheat and it tastes really good )

My flat mates were very happy to taste a different dish for dinner after 10 days of my absence in the kitchen. I was surprised as the recipe just came to me by instinct and it tasted really good.

This is me, if I can make flour to tasty meal, I can do best with my life as well.

Sri - you are completely in the wrong profession. What on earth are you doing pushing pen and paper. Become a Food TV presenter and writer ! that's your calling. If you can create recipes just like that. Especially when I have to ask you how to differentiate between wheat flour and maize flour !!

Now if you don't give an irreverant or smart alec response to this, I'm going to come and clobber you :)
